About This Work
Fortune cookies have fascinated me for years. They’re an object almost everyone recognizes, yet they’re full of small contradictions. They’re playful but sentimental, disposable but memorable, familiar yet often misunderstood.
By translating them into clay, I slow the experience down. What is normally opened, read, and thrown away becomes something lasting. Each piece is handmade in my studio, allowing subtle differences in colour, surface, and form to become part of its character.
Although they begin with a familiar shape, I hope they encourage people to look a little closer and find something new in an everyday object.
